( Ever since Adalinda arrived here, she's mostly staying out of sight and keeping to herself -- keeping away from people. If anyone attempted to talk to her up to this point or noticed her hovering close to them while they spoke to someone, she'll feign needing to be somewhere else and get the hell out of there before she can be confronted.

Until she gets her bearings and knows she won't lose her cool at the sight of anything/anyone/whatever, she needs to be by herself and think over the events that lead up to this. Because seriously! Wings on her back? This fancy journal machine... thing that seems to be able to contact others after she carefully inspected it? This sure as hell isn't Germany.

She finally comes to the conclusion that this isn't some sort of elaborate scheme hatched out by the Woman or this is some sort of dying dream she's having. Good for her? Bad for her? Who knows. All she's certain of is that there's a lot of places to explore but sticks to the buildings and houses and you know. Signs of life in this place. Seeing how she's possibly the only member in the Doe gang to be here, she can't afford risking the possibility of getting in trouble until her friends arrived to get her. One way or another. )

I suppose I have to make the most out of this until James or Josie get me out of this mess. Hell, I'll take up Jacob's help if it means getting nagged by him. First things first...

( She gives a distasteful look at her new outfit. One thing she cannot abide is being stuck with the clothes she finds herself wearing and careful inspection of the place she woke up this morning reveals no signs of her original outfit.

So rain or not she'll be heading to the Clothing Shop to find something nicer to wear and then check out the Welcome Center after hearing about it here and there. For now she'll duck into buildings or go closer to houses in a subtle attempt to inspect them, scout them out. She's no Point Person but she reckons she can pick up a thing or two from what she may 'accidentally' see or 'overhear'.

That and the rain was annoying to deal with how it made her hair get so matted and tangled and she wanted as much shelter from the weather as possible until she got to her destinations. She has a feeling this place doesn't have her brand of hair products. Great. )

Well, it really isn't as bad as that. It's...a little difficult at times, but there are always bright spots. If you look for them, anyway.

[Wait...wasn't there something about the French that he was supposed to remember? This query completely drives out the fact that she apparently thinks he's cute. Jack would never believe that anyway. He's a nerd. Nerds aren't acceptable to the female creature.]

( She subtly hitches up the bottom of her dress a bit before she follows him, making sure there's a sway to her hips. What she sees in the shop are not up to standards for her usual wardrobe but beggars can't be choosers.

Besides. What she hears from Jack keeps getting better and better so she doesn't mind the state of some clothes she sees, turning her attention on him and giving a starry-eyed look. )

A trilogy? Are you saying you were a movie star back where you're from? ( Addie suspects he's no Humphrey Bogart but he definitely could be a Brad Pitt from his looks and charisma so far. ) My. This is so exciting! Looks like there's all the more reasons to give you some late night calls.

Movie star? No. Movie producer? Yes.

[Also the subject matter of said trilogy, but he figured he could dazzle her later with the tales of just how amazing he really was.

Regardless, he felt particularly satisfied impressing her by merely pretending to be mundane. In he meantime, he casually leafs through a few shirts, but seeing nothing of particular interest to him. The key here is to simply be interested, but at the same time disinterested]

( 'Friends' isn't something she'll be looking for too much. She learned that the hard way. Allies or aides on the other hand? Definitely something she wants. Which is why she plays up a bit of her weariness, looking suddenly tired as she answers the second question. )

I do feel a bit ill, in honesty. ( She avoids Saori's gaze for a minute, as if ashamed of needing to admit the next part. ) My health since I was a little girl... Let us say that it was never the most spectacular thing. Stress and anxiety tends to exacerbate it.

Like Adele? I suppose so if you mean if I am from the same place where she is.

( Someone French then, obviously. Addie wonders if this is someone who is here in this place with them too or this is a little lady who is from wherever he came. Maybe she's an actual foreign exchange student unlike herself. )

And I am sorry but I do not understand what you are trying to say to me, my dear. Have I ever...?

I never thought of it that way before. Talk about using your body as how the Americans back home would say it.

( Seriously. She never thought of going after someone's eyes when trying to fight someone off. That part was definitely not part of S.I.N.G that Jack taught her. )

It certainly sounds like you know a thing or two about fighting, Monsieur Spencer. ( She says it with lightness, an observation and a praise. But did he have this knowledge as it was natural for him to know prior to coming here or it was something he picked up when being made to battle? He never did mention a specific time he was stuck here and asking now would be suspicious. ) I guess 'defenseless' is a bit dramatic to say when introducing yourself to people, no? Is 'combative knowledge-challenged' a better way to explain my desires to train?

( Now she gets it. Maybe. She is getting distinct flashbacks to that one party in Japan with this interaction and has no idea if that's good or bad. )

Ah! I'm sorry. Do you mean parler? ( Is he asking her if she could speak French? Oh. If he's asking if she can speak dirty French, like what she experiences most of the time in situations possibly like these, she is leaving. Trying to leave a friendly impression on everyone be damned. )

The man behind the man? That's more fascinating. I was always curious as to how the industry worked.

( She starts to look through the dresses and blouses now, picking something here and there in hopes to find something decent enough to get out of this outfit soon as possible.

It seems at least his tactic is working on her. With how Addie visibly checks him out out of the corner of her eye, trying and failing to be sneaky about it. In her experience it never hurts to be the chaser for the chased when trying to win their confidence. Or, at the very least, the path to their bed and access to the only source of wine here. )

( She waste no time in entering the house through the front door, glad to be out of the rotten weather for a while. )

This place is lovely. ( Adalinda looked around, looking like she was admiring the place while trying to pick up anymore details she should note. Did Pascal really leave here by herself? It must be exhausting to do the chores then if that was the case. ) How can I ever repay you for your kindness? Would you like me to make us some tea while we chat? I know how to brew a decent cup.

( Er. Not really. She had an idea how to make tea, Jade made sure of that, but never did it before. )

[He snorts softly, not so much at her praise as at 'combative knowledge-challenged'.]

I should; I'm with the armed forces back home. ...But, you know, saying you're 'eager to learn' works just fine too.

( What should she ask first? There were so many things she wanted to know about this place. )

Well. I should tackle the important question of where I can stay here before I ask anything possibly silly to you. I've been told everything was for free here so I presume shelter falls under that but it's organized in a way to there's always space for everyone.

You're right about that! There's more space around this village then there's people, so there's plenty of empty spaces and no need to charge anyone for it. You could just start forgetting money ever exists! [Aang's definitely cool with that notion; it's the nomad way.]

It's not you, per se. It's what you're doing. I'm new here, you see. Just found this place and talked to some of the people but then I realized I never asked how to use this.

( She shows her own journal to show what 'this' exactly is. The Doe member makes her eyes appear wide and fearful, slumping her shoulders to make herself small and regretful. Which is difficult to do seeing how she might have a good four or five inches over him. She depends on her voice to do most of h work then, conveying a convincing amount of remorse and distress. )

It seems important to know if I had this on me when I woke up. I was unsure if you would be receptive to the idea of some stranger waltzing up to you and demanding help. So I thought to just watch from a distance is all. Nothing nefarious, I swear.

( She is leaving the general vicinity of where they are if that happened.

Ahhh. Parlay. Now she gets what he's trying to ask her but that's something she doesn't do. That was more of Jacques' thing or Matt-- No. No. She will not think of that asshole of all times. She does her best to keep a sunny smile on her face when the invasive thoughts of him come along. )

I see. Forgive me for not realizing it sooner and no. I never did before since I focused more on my studies to this day. I do wish I could help you remember whatever you're tying to recall. It sounds important.

( A blink at his suggestion and she smiles at it, nodding in agreement. ) I guess it could too!

I shouldn't try to be so wordy when it comes to these things, hm? ( She laughs a bit at herself, ducking her head in embarrassment of her continued fumbling in front of Spencer. ) Suppose this could be chalked up to a case of my nerves working against me.

Oh no! Not now. I know my body. Should it start to... react badly at any moment when we're together, I promise to let you know. I hate the idea of making such a dramatic faux pas on my first day here.

But please. Enough about me. ( Though that was her favorite subject, she needed to continue the image of a friendly woman which meant directing the conversation to the other person. It's also a nice way to see if she can pick up on anything else. ) Could I hear more about you if that would not be rude to ask? Anything would be of great interest to me.

( "Shifts"? That was something she never heard of before when talking to the others. )

That's an interesting concept to think about. ( That sounds more like a nightmare to Addie, truth be told. Certainly for some members of the group. ) Could I ask how the distribution of the living spaces works, exactly? Do we have to share rooms with people or are there little places for each for us to live? I can work with anything since I don't want to be a burden to anyone.

( She hopes for something individual since she has a feeling she might not be able to keep up this French accent twenty four hours, seven days a week. )
