01 CON ● ACTION ● SIX OF DIAMONDS
( Ever since Adalinda arrived here, she's mostly staying out of sight and keeping to herself -- keeping away from people. If anyone attempted to talk to her up to this point or noticed her hovering close to them while they spoke to someone, she'll feign needing to be somewhere else and get the hell out of there before she can be confronted.
Until she gets her bearings and knows she won't lose her cool at the sight of anything/anyone/whatever, she needs to be by herself and think over the events that lead up to this. Because seriously! Wings on her back? This fancy journal machine... thing that seems to be able to contact others after she carefully inspected it? This sure as hell isn't Germany.
She finally comes to the conclusion that this isn't some sort of elaborate scheme hatched out by the Woman or this is some sort of dying dream she's having. Good for her? Bad for her? Who knows. All she's certain of is that there's a lot of places to explore but sticks to the buildings and houses and you know. Signs of life in this place. Seeing how she's possibly the only member in the Doe gang to be here, she can't afford risking the possibility of getting in trouble until her friends arrived to get her. One way or another. )
I suppose I have to make the most out of this until James or Josie get me out of this mess. Hell, I'll take up Jacob's help if it means getting nagged by him. First things first...
( She gives a distasteful look at her new outfit. One thing she cannot abide is being stuck with the clothes she finds herself wearing and careful inspection of the place she woke up this morning reveals no signs of her original outfit.
So rain or not she'll be heading to the Clothing Shop to find something nicer to wear and then check out the Welcome Center after hearing about it here and there. For now she'll duck into buildings or go closer to houses in a subtle attempt to inspect them, scout them out. She's no Point Person but she reckons she can pick up a thing or two from what she may 'accidentally' see or 'overhear'.
That and the rain was annoying to deal with how it made her hair get so matted and tangled and she wanted as much shelter from the weather as possible until she got to her destinations. She has a feeling this place doesn't have her brand of hair products. Great. )

[Action] This is a placeholder!
Oh, hello there.
[Action] Happy screaming! <3
So worried about whether the blouse will look better with slacks or a skirt, she at first doesn't respond to the polite greeting until her common sense raps its knuckles at her thick head and makes her aware of the other woman. She looks up and clears her throat, flashing a nervous smile in an attempt to get some sympathy. Good job, Addie. You're the new meat here. Try to not look like a snob. )
Hello there. I apologize if I seemed rude to you a second ago. ( She lowers the blouse to give the other woman her full attention. ) I tend to focus on little stuff instead of the big ones when nervous. This is. Really new to me, is all I can say. I keep feeling like I'll just wake up any second.
[Action] Happy Squeaking! <3
It's no trouble at all. I know it can seem overwhelming at first. But small steps are the best way to start. Just jumping in can be a little overwhelming.
[Action] Gleeful hugging and never letting going :| <3
( So someone else who has been here for a while from how she spoke. Maybe? Still longer than her, that's for her. It is nice to meet the 'seasoned' people so to speak to see what they know and see what she can take and apply for herself. )
[Action] :3
And...[She taps her chin] Find a hobby?
[Action] :D
I've been told that the clothes here were for free. Will it apply to lodgings and meals? If not I can get to work right away. ( Problem is she isn't really capable of a lot of things that didn't fall under some savory titles. Does anyone need a secretary here? As for hobby. That's a pretty good angle to think about. She knows 'partying' is out of the question. Good impression, Addie. Remember that. ) I'm... fond of the arts and entertainment like movies. I hope that counts.
[Action]
Everything is free here, there is no money. Now, why don't you follow me and we'll get some food in you, miss.
[Oh, right, introductions!]
I am Saori Kimura, the Daughter of Wind and Rain. What should I call you?
[Action]
More than happy to follow Saori, Adalinda will follow wherever she'll go now. But not before grabbing a black hoodie she found earlier to protect herself from the rain later. At least it fitted her well. )
Please, just call me Addie. No titles or claims to anything. It's what I've been called my whole life and I don't think a change of location or reality should stop that. ( In hindsight, perhaps she should have introduced herself as 'Jane' to people. Could they find out about her real name somehow? She'll never know at this point. Might as well roll with what she threw. ) It's a good thing everything here is for free. I don't think my credit card would have appreciated the sudden vacation I took to get here. Let alone the expenses.
[Action]
[Saori smiles and leads the way across the square towards Seventh Heaven. It's the nicest restaurant in town, really. Even with the change in management.]
And if it helps, it's not really a vacation. It's more...a prison term.
[Action]
( Her smile temporarily falters at the comparison of this place being more of a prison than a vacation. )
I know. ( She looks down at the ground, her expression a picture of contemplation. ) I've heard some things thanks to a Monsieur Horner. On what happens here. He made it come off as so... simple. Yet at times I find myself struck with such a nauseousness and anxiousness. If it weren't for kind souls like him and you, I think I would have fainted at some point!
[Action]
[Making friends chief among them]
But are you feeling ill?
[Action]
I do feel a bit ill, in honesty. ( She avoids Saori's gaze for a minute, as if ashamed of needing to admit the next part. ) My health since I was a little girl... Let us say that it was never the most spectacular thing. Stress and anxiety tends to exacerbate it.
[Action]
[Good luck trying to manipulate her, she's just honest with her feelings. Anyone is a potential friend.]
[Action]
But please. Enough about me. ( Though that was her favorite subject, she needed to continue the image of a friendly woman which meant directing the conversation to the other person. It's also a nice way to see if she can pick up on anything else. ) Could I hear more about you if that would not be rude to ask? Anything would be of great interest to me.
[Action]
[And make Saori feel significantly less...boastful?]
[Action]
It might be but I always enjoyed more when it came to hearing stories and recollections from others! ( Plus asking questions always had that risk of hitting a wrong nerve if a sensitive topic was brought up, unwillingly or not, which was something Addie wanted to avoid for now. ) People always seem to have these fascinating lives I can only dream of back home.
[Action]
[Shrugging, Saori began]
I am four-hundred and seventy two years old, and I am a Myojin of summer storms. The weather of Kyushu is mine by right to command. In your tongue, I suppose that would translate to a god, yes?
[She pauses, waiting for the inevitable disbelief or shock...]
[Action]
( Of course there's disbelief and it shows in an arch of her eyebrow, the sudden tilt to her head. A god(dess) of summer storms who is over four hundred years old? Really? She knows she looks young but she sure as hell isn't dum-- Wait.
She remembers she has wings on her back and is in a place that apparently pokes into the heads/bodies of people for amusement when not tossing them into a fight now and then. If she can find herself believing that from one guy and what she's overheard the past few days, she can make herself believe these claims.
Besides if she is lying about it for whatever reasons she's got, Addie can't exactly call her out on it. Pot and kettle situation. So she settles with confusion and proper amount of awe. )
That is amazing! See! I told you so when it comes to people living more amazing lives than I. You're the proof of that with how you can control storms while I'm just an exchange student who has never even seen Japan before.
[Action]
Don't say that. Mortal lives are no less amazing. Now it's your turn. Tell me something about you.
[Action]
I suppose that's true for some people, of course! But definitely not me. ( Stick to her usual story? Stick to her usual story. ) I'm an only child. My mother was a seamstress. We didn't have a lot of money so I often stayed with my grand-mère who was the one who taught me how to make simple dresses and blouses at the age of twelve. I suppose I can say she is why I wish to be the next Rose Bertin.
[Action]
[The rest of that all made sense, and was probably an oversimplification but...that stood out.]
[Action]
Rose Bertin was the first fashion designer to be celebrated. Her dresses were elaborate and beautiful, attracting the influential nobleladies of the Versailles, the royal courts. She can be credited as to why fashion is so important to the image of a person where I am from. ( She clasps her hands together, pressing them against her chest like she is tryng to steady herself from fainting. ) It was said she was so influential with the last Queen of France that the Queen listened to her opinions more importantly than her own advisers.
[Action]
[Fashion and clothing weren't half so interesting as all that, but...if this woman had such a strong inflluence on her culture, it was intriguing all the same]
That's...interesting. Does anyone know why?
[Action]
What better way than dressing more lavishly than they ever could? Rose Bertin's fashion was new and innovative at the time while it was chic and dazzling, something the indulgent Queen of France adored. ( She sadly died for her impulsive buys but it was the price of beauty, wasn't it? It's how she saw it at the very least. ) And when the Queen favors you, you can expect her followers to flock in too or spread another good word of your work. She can be credit for haute couture to attention in France.
[Action]
I suppose that's so, yes. So you are a fashion designer?
