01 CON ● ACTION ● SIX OF DIAMONDS
( Ever since Adalinda arrived here, she's mostly staying out of sight and keeping to herself -- keeping away from people. If anyone attempted to talk to her up to this point or noticed her hovering close to them while they spoke to someone, she'll feign needing to be somewhere else and get the hell out of there before she can be confronted.
Until she gets her bearings and knows she won't lose her cool at the sight of anything/anyone/whatever, she needs to be by herself and think over the events that lead up to this. Because seriously! Wings on her back? This fancy journal machine... thing that seems to be able to contact others after she carefully inspected it? This sure as hell isn't Germany.
She finally comes to the conclusion that this isn't some sort of elaborate scheme hatched out by the Woman or this is some sort of dying dream she's having. Good for her? Bad for her? Who knows. All she's certain of is that there's a lot of places to explore but sticks to the buildings and houses and you know. Signs of life in this place. Seeing how she's possibly the only member in the Doe gang to be here, she can't afford risking the possibility of getting in trouble until her friends arrived to get her. One way or another. )
I suppose I have to make the most out of this until James or Josie get me out of this mess. Hell, I'll take up Jacob's help if it means getting nagged by him. First things first...
( She gives a distasteful look at her new outfit. One thing she cannot abide is being stuck with the clothes she finds herself wearing and careful inspection of the place she woke up this morning reveals no signs of her original outfit.
So rain or not she'll be heading to the Clothing Shop to find something nicer to wear and then check out the Welcome Center after hearing about it here and there. For now she'll duck into buildings or go closer to houses in a subtle attempt to inspect them, scout them out. She's no Point Person but she reckons she can pick up a thing or two from what she may 'accidentally' see or 'overhear'.
That and the rain was annoying to deal with how it made her hair get so matted and tangled and she wanted as much shelter from the weather as possible until she got to her destinations. She has a feeling this place doesn't have her brand of hair products. Great. )

[Action] No problem at all!
Wow, their hair coloring is fantastic. The white and red were just blending together so perfectly. Taking note to one day get close enough to them to ask for tips on how to do hers realistically as theirs, Adalinda waves back and jogs closer to Pascal. )
Bonjour! Nice to see another friendly face here. I'm Addie and it is wonderful to meet you.
[Action]
[Pushing herself up by her hands, Pascal leans out of the window slightly to get a look around. Mm, nothing out of the ordinary. Just rain, lots of rain, and puddles, and water. Yup.]
Whatcha doing out there gettin' all wet and stuff?
[Action]
Walking around mostly. It's what I've been doing all day and I think I've exhausted my options on where to go without straying too far from here. ( She shivers visibly, rubbing her arms together and huddling for warmth.
The new clothes she wore were nice but leaned more towards more of form than function. Surprise surprise. It's a bad habit back home, it'll be a bad habit here now. ) Goodness! It's so cold out here to me for some reason. Is the rain always this chilly?
[Action]
[With one hand keeping her propped up, Pascal uses the other to reach out and test the rain. Yup, still rain. After a moment or so of letting the rain fall on her she suddenly snaps her fingers.]
So, hey! Since you're all cold and gross and all that you should come in and get super toasty before you go back out. How's that sound, huh?
[Action]
She thinks her reaction came off as believable seeing how this is her first day and things have been a lot for a 'New Feather'. ) That's so generous of you to offer. Thank you so much. I would also love to get to know you more during my stay here.
( Adalinda keeps her frown at being described as 'gross' to herself and looks ever grateful and relieved at the offer, glad to know that it worked. It'll be nice to get out of the rain and dry herself enough to continue her journey. If she's lucky enough, maybe she can get an umbrella out of this. )
I do promise to try my best and not to make a mess in your home.
[Action]
[Really awesome, making friends is always awesome. She pulls herself back inside, quickly closes the window and runs off to unlock and open the front door.]
There we go! Come in and make yourself all comfy-cozy. Don't worry about makin' a mess or whatever, it's fine!
[Not that she has any room to comment on making messes when her bedroom is the definition of a mess.]
[Action]
This place is lovely. ( Adalinda looked around, looking like she was admiring the place while trying to pick up anymore details she should note. Did Pascal really leave here by herself? It must be exhausting to do the chores then if that was the case. ) How can I ever repay you for your kindness? Would you like me to make us some tea while we chat? I know how to brew a decent cup.
( Er. Not really. She had an idea how to make tea, Jade made sure of that, but never did it before. )
[Action]
Now if Pascal had any sense of decency then she wouldn't invite someone into her house and then let them start making tea, whether they were repaying her for something or not. But seeing as she doesn't...]
Sure thing! The kitchen is right over this way. [Off she goes, leading the way to the kitchen.] I dunno how we are for tea, we might have some of those baggy things lying around. Ooh, but we have plenty of stuff for making hot chocolate!
[Action]
( Oh God. She actually took up the offer for tea. Adalinda follows at a reasonable distance and tries to think positive. Well. You know what they say: Make lemonade out of lemons. She could see more of this place and of the other people who lived here and what's a better way than the kitchen?
That and she needed enough time to find an excuse on not making the tea and to instead do the hot chocolate for them both. How on earth could she mess that up? )
Could I ask how long you and your friends been here? It seems all of you are awfully settled into this house from the looks of it.
[Action]
[Having entered the kitchen, Pascal pushes herself onto one of the counters and takes a seat, humming thoughtfully to herself for a moment.]
Welp, by the time summer rolls around for real I'll have been here one whole year! Asbel and the other guys have been around for way longer though, there even used to be a past-me running around the place before I poofed in.
[Meaning she was here before, though she doesn't remember her previous stay in Luceti.
Pascal likely won't tell Adalinda where the cups, teabags, hot chocolate mix or anything else is unless she's prompted to, so if Addie wants to go ahead and poke around in the cupboards she's free to do so! There's nothing special lying around though. Cutlery, plates, albeit quite a fair number of plates considering the number of people staying here, dry foodstuffs, and so on.]
[Action]
( And despair over. Oh God. Pascal has been here for a whole year despite another version of her coming and going? Even if you leave another form of you could take your place? That is not what she hoped for.
The thought makes her dizzy with anger or shock. However she ignores the sensation and keeps a straight face, knowing it's considered kind of rude to just pass out in someone else's home. Occupying herself with looking through some of the cupboards as she wasn't told where to look for the items they needed for the drinks, and seeing how she wasn't told to not look into the cupboards, she notes the items inside each. Yep. Definitely have been here for a while to accumulate this amount of stuff. )
Oh dear. I can't seem to find anything to make the tea with. ( A lie. She's sure there's some here but hot chocolate has always been an easier (and far yummier) thing to make in her opinion. ) I think I found the hot chocolate though. I know I promised to make tea but I think this weather requires something sweet now that I think about it.
[Action]
[In her case she didn't remember a thing, but it's not like that bothered her. If anything it just meant she could make friends with all the old friends that the first Pascal made.
She swings her legs idly back and forth from her seat on the counter-top, watching Addie digging around in the cupboards. Something warm and sweet sounds a lot better than something just warm right now, so Pascal has no complaints in the change of plans.]
But yeah, hot chocolate sounds good to me! There's nothing better for the ol' noggin than the sweet kick of hot chocolate.
[Action]
Hot chocolate it is! I'll try to get it ready soon. Would you like me to add anything to yours if it is available here in the kitchen or prefer it as the original version? I've tried hot chocolate with maple syrup one time and cinnamon and chili pepper another time. Both were delicious, I must say.
( She definitely knows her sweets more than her 'health' food/drinks.
In her quest to find the correct mugs to use to pour the beverage in, she finds something that might actually be teabags. Casually ignoring her potential discovery, she closes the cupboards like that never happened and continues her search until -- Aha! Triumphant, she takes the mugs and carefully sets them down on the counter before continuing her search. Eventually she might find it, careful to not jostle any cups or plates in her search for the other items. )
[Action]
[Syrup and cinnamon sounded pretty good, but the chili has definitely got her curious. Does adding chili pepper to hot chocolate double the hotness and make it hotter than ever? Inquiring minds want to know.
Wait, do they even have any chili lying around? Hmm, better check.]
There's gotta be some of the powdered stuff knockin' around in here somewhere, or can ya get away with just dunking a whole chili in the cup and swirling it around?
[Hoisting herself up so she's now kneeling on the counter-top, Pascal turns around and starts digging through the cupboard above the counter.]
[Action]
I think it would be more ideal if we had the powdered cayenne pepper instead of using an actual pepper. ( Would it work at all if they tried that? Maybe they shouldn't push their luck. ) I've only used the spice in the past and I think it would be best to stick to that.
( She also lists down the other ingredients needed which was milk, cinnamon to give. She too begins to help look for the main ingredient along with keeping an eye out for the cinnamon. And, of course, looking for the hot chocolate itself. Be it actual chocolate lying around or instant mix. Whichever came first. )
[Action]
[After a little more rummaging around a jar of chili powdered is slammed triumphantly onto the kitchen counter. With the chili found, Pascal moves on to getting the milk out of the refrigerator.]
If you're looking for chocolate then we've got whole bars of the sweet stuff right over there. [Spinning around to point at a cupboard on the other side of the kitchen now-] Maybe Richard left the hot chocolate mix with the other chocolatey things when he last made some.
[She's assuming it was Richard anyway. Eh. Putting all the chocolate related things together seems to make sense to her.]
[Action]
Excellent. We only need the milk now and we can finally get these elusive drinks of ours. ( Who knew this would be a relatively entertaining hunt for the ingredients. ) Hmm. Now that I think about it with how I can't seem to find this once item...
If there's no cinnamon, I suppose we can improvise with another spice. When I can think of a spice that's similar to cinnamon. Or just drink it without adding any spice besides chili. What do you think?
[Action]
Beats me! We could try adding all sortsa things to it, there's a whole spice rack full of tasty stuff that could be mixed up with some yummy chocolate.
[Having found the milk by this point, Pascal marches over and slams it down next to the chili powder.]
Maybe we could end up findin' a whole new taste combination that no one ever even knew about until now.
[Action]
Putting some thought into the suggestion Pascal made, she finally shrugs and starts to pour in the chocolate mix and the chili powder. Trying to think of spices that could complement the sweetness and spiciness. )
I agree. I cannot think of any reasons why we shouldn't try to mix new spices together with these. ( She taps the mug she filled with the powders for emphasis. ) It's not like we'll be hurting anyone with this, now will we? Like you said, there is a possibility that we can discover a new taste to the drinks. All on our own! Would that not be a fun and delicious discovery?
[Action]
[And since they're aiming to drink the hot chocolate, not throw it, yeah, that would be a big waste. You can't waste hot chocolate when there's a delicious discovery just moments away!]
So whaddya think would go with this, huh? I know loads of different spices and stuff but I dunno what really goes with what, y'know.
[Action]
... Aaaand she can't think of any. Darn it. This is what she gets for not paying attention to the ramblings of Anna or Jacques better. To be fair to her: It's not like she was a willing participant when roped into those discussions but how she wished she listened. )
Hmmm. ( She should just throw out some name of spices and see if they're here. If they are, step one of this is done. ) I think we could try this with... Ah! Perhaps either nutmeg or baharat. Those are spicy yet sweet. That means they could be compatible if one wants to add spice to their chocolate.
[Action]
Ooh, something spicy on top of super spicy chili, but with plenty of super sweetness too. This is gonna be interesting!
[Nutmeg get! She opts not to slam the tiny glass jar the nutmeg is in on the counter this time and instead decides to throw the jar over towards Addie instead.]
Nutmeg, comin' your way!
Re: [Action]
Caaaatches-- No don't slip out of her fingers!!
She hops a bit, secures it in her grip. Score! Nearly stumbles on her own two feet when she gets back down and attempts to steady herself. She gives Pascal a look of bemusement. Which turns into amusement and she ends up laughing happily as she adds the nutmeg to the mugs. That was pretty unexpected but rather fun! )
Nice throw there! Perhaps I'll toss you your drink all of the sudden when these are made? ( To think this all started because Pascal was willing enough to stick her head out and talk to a passing stranger. )
[Action]
And those were some pretty nice moves there too! Iiii think I'll skip on the drink throwing though, remember what I said about it being a total waste?
[And you wouldn't want to waste a drop of this stuff after the scavenger hunt they went through to make it!]
[Action]
If you say so. Perhaps we should a real game of catch next time, with a ball and all? ( That'll be a way to pass the time. ) And the drinks are almost done! May I have a minute or two to make sure they're just right before we delve into the deliciousness?
( She, you know, wants to make sure this won't have them immediately puking or running to the bathroom. You never know about spices found in a world where people have wings on their back. )
