01 CON ● ACTION ● SIX OF DIAMONDS
( Ever since Adalinda arrived here, she's mostly staying out of sight and keeping to herself -- keeping away from people. If anyone attempted to talk to her up to this point or noticed her hovering close to them while they spoke to someone, she'll feign needing to be somewhere else and get the hell out of there before she can be confronted.
Until she gets her bearings and knows she won't lose her cool at the sight of anything/anyone/whatever, she needs to be by herself and think over the events that lead up to this. Because seriously! Wings on her back? This fancy journal machine... thing that seems to be able to contact others after she carefully inspected it? This sure as hell isn't Germany.
She finally comes to the conclusion that this isn't some sort of elaborate scheme hatched out by the Woman or this is some sort of dying dream she's having. Good for her? Bad for her? Who knows. All she's certain of is that there's a lot of places to explore but sticks to the buildings and houses and you know. Signs of life in this place. Seeing how she's possibly the only member in the Doe gang to be here, she can't afford risking the possibility of getting in trouble until her friends arrived to get her. One way or another. )
I suppose I have to make the most out of this until James or Josie get me out of this mess. Hell, I'll take up Jacob's help if it means getting nagged by him. First things first...
( She gives a distasteful look at her new outfit. One thing she cannot abide is being stuck with the clothes she finds herself wearing and careful inspection of the place she woke up this morning reveals no signs of her original outfit.
So rain or not she'll be heading to the Clothing Shop to find something nicer to wear and then check out the Welcome Center after hearing about it here and there. For now she'll duck into buildings or go closer to houses in a subtle attempt to inspect them, scout them out. She's no Point Person but she reckons she can pick up a thing or two from what she may 'accidentally' see or 'overhear'.
That and the rain was annoying to deal with how it made her hair get so matted and tangled and she wanted as much shelter from the weather as possible until she got to her destinations. She has a feeling this place doesn't have her brand of hair products. Great. )

[action] 3/3
[............better.]
[action] 1/5 and I am laughing so hard here oh golly
For now she's dwelling on what to do and how to approach this scenario when he says his comment. )
[action] 2/5
Thank you so much. That is--
[action] 3/5
A bathroom rug.
Look. She gets it. Her hair is a mess right now but no need to rub it in with comparing her hair with something people use to wipe their dirty, sudsy feet with. She keeps a pleasant if puzzled look up, knowing better than to throw a fit here and there. Could it be a mangled attempt to make flattering comparison of her hair to something? )
[action] 4/5
Stay calm and carry on, Addie. He meant well. People always do, always fail but at the end of the day they meant well like this guy. He was only complimenting her and it was odd but it could have been worse. Much worse. Why did he have to comment on it being a rug though. She'll need to play it up to make this convincing. )
[action] 5/5
Why! I must say that is a comment I never heard from a cute gentleman before. You're the first to make a most curious connection to my hair to rug of royalty. It certainly got my attention. ( She covers her mouth and fakes a giggle, batting her eyelashes. ) Tell me, my dear.
Do you always say that to the new girls around here as a way to welcome them in?
[action] Yay!
No! No, not at all! Mostly I rob them of all of their valuables. Or. I did. Before. [He peers at her curiously through those thick glasses, which are now fogging up.]
What's your name?
[action] <3!
( Rob them of their wealth before? Sure. She finds herself doubting that, where this conversation is taking place and the fact there are wings on both of their backs aside. There's only so much Adalinda is going to allow herself to believe and that quota of the day has been filled, thank you. )
Goodness me! I keep forgetting my manners. What am I? An American? My name is Addie. ( She struts closer to him and extends out a hand for him to shake, giving him nothing but a look og good spirits. ) And you? May I have the pleasure of knowing your name?
[action]
Jackie! Jackie Sparrow.
[This is NOT how he would normally introduce himself, mind. Jack reaches out to take her hand, his normally-tanned skin blushing even more beet red.]
Another American, are you? There are a number of suchlike colonists here.
[action]
Goodness no! I'm not an American at all, my dear Jackie. I'm from Paris, France. Though I was in Germany at the time when I suddenly blacked out. ( Adalinda leans back and sighs dramatically, looking gloomy for a second before she perks back up. ) And all I thought would happen when I went there for my program was that I would meet cute boys and learn more of my studies.
At least one of those expectations happened today and I'm glad for it. All thanks to you.
[action]
Like Adele?
[Wait...wasn't there something about the French that he was supposed to remember? This query completely drives out the fact that she apparently thinks he's cute. Jack would never believe that anyway. He's a nerd. Nerds aren't acceptable to the female creature.]
Have you ever parlie...parla..........parlilly...
[No, no, that wasn't it....]
[action]
( Someone French then, obviously. Addie wonders if this is someone who is here in this place with them too or this is a little lady who is from wherever he came. Maybe she's an actual foreign exchange student unlike herself. )
And I am sorry but I do not understand what you are trying to say to me, my dear. Have I ever...?
[action]
PARLEEELUUUU.... It's a French word, bugger it! Parloolaa....
[action]
Ah! I'm sorry. Do you mean parler? ( Is he asking her if she could speak French? Oh. If he's asking if she can speak dirty French, like what she experiences most of the time in situations possibly like these, she is leaving. Trying to leave a friendly impression on everyone be damned. )
[action]
PARLAY. That's what I were tryin' to think of. PARlay.
There's somethin' about parlaying that I should be able to remember, but....cannot.
[action]
Ahhh. Parlay. Now she gets what he's trying to ask her but that's something she doesn't do. That was more of Jacques' thing or Matt-- No. No. She will not think of that asshole of all times. She does her best to keep a sunny smile on her face when the invasive thoughts of him come along. )
I see. Forgive me for not realizing it sooner and no. I never did before since I focused more on my studies to this day. I do wish I could help you remember whatever you're tying to recall. It sounds important.
[action]
[The details are hazy.]
Tell me: have you any experience with "shifts"?
[action]
Oh no. Seeing how I've only arrived today and all, I believe have yet to experience nor have I been told anything about this yet. ( She wonders if it had anything to do with the earlier mention of this 'fierce pirate crew' and 'cursed treasure' of his? ) Is it common here?
[action]
[His voice squeaks on "man".]
'S why I cannot remember about the parlay-ing.
[action]
Doing her best to act appropriately shocked by this revelation, she is genuinely curious by this development. There's something here that can change a person so much? What an awful but interesting thought. )
How long have you been like this, my dear Jackie? I hope this won't be a long effect for your person. If you're this charming now, I would love to see your true identity.
[action]
[That was the laboratory where all their hideous experiments took place.]
But....you would? My true...true identity?
[action]
Not wanting to drag this unusually lively conversation down with inquiring more about it, she focuses on the positive, looking and sounding sincere when she gives her answer. )
Of course. Why wouldn't I? You haven't given me a reason yet on why I shouldn't meet the real you.
[action]
[action]
I've always wanted to meet a man of adventure and daring. It sounds like you fit the criteria perfectly with how this conversation is going. ( And, to be fair, she's no better when it comes to her occupation. Cast not the first stone unless you want an ugly black eye. )
